If you want to submit a sprite sheet for a feature or accessory for the Joystick Buddies bot, you can download the templates and create the image(s) required, in accordance with the guidelines below. It is not guaranteed that I will accept all entries and add them to the bot.
Guidelines for style and usage:
- All features should be designed such that they can be superimposed onto the base sprite, like a paper doll.
- All features and accessories must fit within the green square for that frame on the sprite sheet, with at least one pixel between the graphic and the edge of the square.
- The sprite should not extend more than a pixel below the blue ground marker by the sprite's feet, except in the jumping frames
- The color palette should be kept minimum, with 2 or 3 shades per color.
- If you want something to be skin color, hair color, or eye color, you will need to set the colors to certain values which will be replaced in the final overlay with the colors that the user selects, outlined in the "colors.txt" file included in the zip.
- All colors need to be FULLY opaque.
- NO gradients or anti-aliasing should be used. Only hard pixel edges.
- You need to separate breast and flat chest options in cases where your sprite would look different on the different body types. If the feature would look the same regardless of chest, just create one version.
- Eyes never need busty and flat chest options, but they DO need blinking and open options.
- For accessories that would not look the same on both facings, please create your sprites to reflect this. For instance, an asymmetrical haircut should look different depending on which way you're facing. If you create a handheld item, it should be in the close hand or the far hand depending on which way you're facing.
- There are a couple more sprites on their way (which will be used for dancing and sleeping) so KEEP your sprite sheets. Once those sprites are added to the sheet you will need to add versions for those extra sprites.
- Sprite sheets should be submitted as bitmaps with transparency, including only the sprite of your accessory or feature, rather than the entire body. - Any sprites that you submit may be added to the general options or made available for Buddy Coins in the store, at my discretion. If I add your sprite to the bot, your buddy will get access to it automatially. If you have a preference about whether it is added to the accessory store or made available to all users, let me know, and we can discuss it.
- In the future, when this bot becomes available for other users, you will be able to choose to link your sprite sheet to a specific tip in your room, such that your tippers can use that tip to unlock some sprite linked to your room, and show their support.
- When this bot is released for general use, it will likely require a subscription to my page to use, given its complexity and the huge amount of work I have put into it. Some amount of free time will be granted to those who submitted sprites that were accepted. Creators who TRULY excell in providing many high quality sprite sheets will get access to the bot as a streamer for life.
- By submitting a sprite sheet you grant me non-exclusive, non-transferable rights to use the sprite in this bot in any capacity.
